Iran Warns of Nuclear Response to US-Israel Attack
WANA (Apr 01) – A senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran stated that if the U.S. or Israel bomb Iran under the pretext of its nuclear program, Iran will be forced to move towards building a nuclear bomb.
Speaking in a news interview on Monday, March 31, 2025, Ali Larijani said, “Iran has secured a prominent position among major powers, and most Western countries want to establish independent relations with Iran. However, due to U.S. pressure, they have not taken a definitive stance.”
He continued, “If the U.S. or Israel bomb Iran under the nuclear pretext, Iran will have no choice but to move towards developing a nuclear weapon. The people will push for this course of action.”
Larijani, a member of the Expediency Council, warned that military action against Iran would not come without consequences. He added, “The content of Trump’s letter is essentially the same rhetoric he repeats constantly. The Americans are not precise in their statements because it would be detrimental to them and create problems.”
He further explained that indirect negotiations are conducted to understand the demands of the other party and the potential concessions.
The Supreme Leader’s advisor emphasized that most politicians consider Trump’s remarks as mere rhetoric. “Globally, Trump’s behavior has become a significant issue. He has threatened Russia and Canada, yet nothing major happened. Military forces take even the smallest probabilities into account and remain prepared.”
Referring to the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), Larijani pointed out that the U.S. easily violated its commitments. “The Supreme Leader never considered the JCPOA a good agreement because a single U.S. president was able to renege on its commitments, while Iran fully adhered to its obligations.”
He reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be eliminated through bombing. “The Supreme Leader’s fatwa prohibits nuclear weapons, but if the U.S. makes a grave mistake, Iran will be compelled, under public pressure, to develop nuclear weapons.”
Larijani explained that Iran’s nuclear technology has been structured in a way that even bombings would not significantly delay it. “Even rational minds in the West have realized that an attack on Iran would push it towards nuclear armament.”
Regarding domestic affairs, Larijani stated, “Iranians are critical of some issues, but they see the revolution as their own child. We must be honest with the people—their economic situation is not good and needs to be addressed.”

He also commented on Western strategies towards Iran: “Western discussions revolve around destabilizing Iran from within. Despite economic grievances, the Islamic Republic enjoys strong public support. The bond between the people and the revolution is like that of a parent and child.”
He continued, “The Islamic Revolution is the offspring of this nation. In Western political discourse, the strategy is to destabilize Iran internally while applying external pressure, but even their own senior officials know this is unrealistic.”
On regional resistance movements, Larijani noted, “Resistance groups continuously strengthen themselves because they do not trust Israel’s ceasefires.”
He stressed that Israel cannot operate in the region without U.S. support. “The Zionist regime uses ceasefires as a tool. Everyone knows that Israeli ceasefires lack credibility. No Arab or Western country truly cares about the Muslim nations of the region. No real support for Palestinians comes out of Arab League meetings—the only solution against Israeli attacks is resistance.”
Larijani also warned the U.S. against involvement in Yemen, stating, “If the Americans were wise, they would not interfere in Yemen. History has shown that Yemen has endured multiple wars, and every invader has suffered. The Yemenis are highly intelligent and strong in battle. If they clash with Arab countries, they will inflict severe damage. The U.S. started this conflict, and Yemen is responding.”
He also referenced historical perspectives on Iran, saying, “Years ago, an Egyptian thinker wrote that they admire Iran for standing with Palestine and the oppressed.”
Citing American strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski, he added, “There is a deep-rooted hatred towards the U.S. in the Middle East, and the youth of the region are becoming more aware.”
Larijani also mentioned French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, stating, “One of the West’s problems is that they do not see Arabs as equals; they have treated them like animals.”
Finally, he pointed out contradictions in U.S. claims: “If the U.S. truly believes that Iran has proxy forces in the region, then why do they claim Iran is weakened? Their statements are contradictory.”
He concluded, “Israel uses ceasefires as a tool, and no one genuinely cares about the Muslims of Palestine. The Palestinian people have the right to resist Israel. Today, Israel’s credibility has diminished.”
